FAQ

How much electricity can solar panels produce?

The electricity production of solar panels depends on the exact panels that are used and on the orientation and angle of your roof. High-quality panels with good exposure can generate about 3 to 5 kilowatt-hours (kWh) daily per installed kilowatt (kWp). A 5 kWp system should yield 12 to 23 kWh daily.

A typical household with 4 people uses around 12 kWh per day but it heavily depends on how you use airconditioners and whether you have other large uses such as an electric scooter that you charge with your electricity.

How much does an installation cost?

Solar installation costs vary due to system size, panel quality and the roof type. An example for a typical residential setup could cost 179,000 Baht for 10 panels with 5 kWp that would save you 3,500 Baht every month.

For a precise quote please contact us and we will figure out together a fitting installation size for a low cost.

How long does it take to install?

After we crafted you an offer that you can accept, the installation usually takes no longer than 2 weeks.

Do solar panels work when it is raining?

Yes, modern solar panels still work really well even when it is cloudy or raining. Older panels only worked with direct sunlight but the new panels that we use also work with indirect and reduced light.

How much space do I need for solar panels?

A single panel requires around 2 square meter of space. You should have at least 6 modules, so around 12 square meters of space on your roof. If you are not sure then it is best if you send us a few pictures of your roof, then we can check whether it is large enough.

How long do solar panels last?

Solar modules are very durable and usually last at least 25 years. Other components like the inverter are expected to last at least 10 years.

How long does it take to recover the investment?

For a residential household a typical solar system amortizes after 4-7 years which is really quick for an investment. After this period you will simply have free electricity with no worries about the electricity bill.

For larger uses like restaurants or factories the installation amortized even faster with a return on investment of just 3-5 years.

Can I sell excess energy back to the grid?

Yes, private homeowners can sell their excess electricity to MEA and PEA for 2.20 Baht per kWh. We will help you with all the documents and with dealing with the electricity and governmental authorities.

Do I need to maintain solar panels?

Usually solar panels do not require much maintenance. Dirt or tree leaves that land on the panels normally get washed away by the next rain. For larger installations we recommend yearly cleanings though. You can do it yourself or simply contact us for a quote.

Is rooftop solar environmentally friendly?

Solar energy is by far the most environmentally friendly electricity generation method that exists.

Without solar on your roof your electricity comes from the grid which currently generates 95% of electricity by burning gas, coal or oil, which is a direct cause for climate change.

In order to save our planet we have to generate all of our electricity from solar, wind or bio gas. A solar installation on your roof is a great contribution to this goal and really helps the environment.

Can I install solar panels myself?

Installing solar modules yourself is not recommended because it can be dangerous. As soon as the sun shines onto the modules they start to produce electricity and you need to be careful and experienced to not get shocked. The inverter needs to be connected to the house's main circuit where there is even more electric current flowing so this should only be carried out by professional electricians.

How to pay or finance the installation costs?

If you don't have the money for the installation available then you can get an affordable loan. We can help you get the fitting loan for you with one of two banks that we cooperate with.
